My Back Story
My “past life” in Sales & Marketing offered a helpful background for what came later:
In years gone by, I created a software product that anticipated the Prices where the Stocks, Futures, and Forex Markets were most likely to pause, or reverse. It was an instant hit. I never got “aggressive” with Marketing—I didn’t need to, as my product easily become known throughout the world-wide Trading community, pretty much on it’s own merits—once they knew about it, that is. And that’s where my past experience in sales & marketing came into play.
Although I didn’t have a “systematic” Marketing Plan so much at the time, I was doing all the right things. I made friends with Influential People. I Built a Mailing List. I wandered the Internet, leaving a trail of Value and Breadcrumbs that lead back to my website. These things seemed natural to me, and that’s what made them work.
I have never believed in the Hard Sell, because it meets with instant Resistance, Distrust, and a higher ratio of Returned goods. Marketing is all about People, Relationships, and Solutions to common problems.
