It’s my first day building my new website from scratch, and I have made good progress so far. I plan to make a lot of Videos for Marketing and Tutorials, so having a YouTube account is a no-brainer. I also want to reserve a Name for my YouTube page.
Affiliate Marketers must have a YouTube Home Page. YouTube has become the Number 2 Search Engine in the world, right behind Google. Google now owns YouTube, so it’s become kind of a “Google 2,” if you will. Funny thing is, when I post a video on YouTube for my other site, PartTimeTrader, I get more hits on YouTube that day than from Google to my website. The first day that I posted my very first video ever, I had 25 views of the video, and I have no idea how people found me. Powerful stuff, indeed. When your site first appears on Google, it will take much longer than that, as a rule, before you get visitors who found you through the old-fashioned Search.
YouTube Account Name is Like a 2nd Domain Name
To sign up for my new account I need a user Name that all the World will see, my YouTube Domain name, if you please, so it better be good. I will type in “InternetMarketing.” Yeah, I’m sure that one’s available…

YouTube - Name Not Available
…Or not.
Unlike the WWW, we can only use up to 20 characters here, which eliminates my Sub-Domain trick. So I come up with a stroke of pure genius, and decided to use my actually Domain name, RickLaPoint. Oh good, it’s available!
So we fill in the remainder of the very short form. At the last minute I decided to add the word, “marketing” to my account name, RickLaPointMarketing. I try to always be frugal and never wasteful, and I had 11 more characters available.
Next you supply your eMail address and enter a password. Whew! Good thing I created an email already.
Set Up Your YouTube Home Page
Now lets set up our YouTube Home Page which is called, “My Channel.” On the second Tab at the top is “Settings,” where we fill in the important stuff we want people to see, and hide the stuff we don’t. Just click the Edit button.
After you save your settings, go back to the top of the screen by the “Sign Out” link and go to “Account” so you can set up your profile. I want to upload my Little Dude from my Header Logo.

You Must Have a Logo on YouTube
Your logo is your Identity, so don’t neglect this step. I’m going to size my graphic for a maximum size of 231 x 231. I have experimented with different sizes and none seem to show up really clear and sharp. Once the picture is uploaded, YouTube says it could take up to 6 hours before it’s visible. Don’t ask me why, since the Videos only take a few minutes. But it usually doesn’t take anywhere near 6 hours. Indeed, mine is already starting to show up.

YouTube - My Channel
Once you began messing around in your Channel, there are changes you can make to color, statistics, etc. Don’t fear experimentation here, but definitively bring the color scheme as near as possible to that of your website. We want to keep an element of continuity everywhere we go.
Don’t Forget FaceBook
Speaking of which, my next stop will be FaceBook, where I will do pretty much the same thing as I did with YouTube. With 500 Million FaceBook users, well, do the math. In the olden days it was said, “If you don’t have a website, you’re not in business.” Now it can almost be said. “If your company is not on YouTube and FaceBook, you’re not in business.” You could probably add Twitter to that, too. And, yes, I already have that set up.
So here I am on FaceBook. Click the picture and come for a visit, make a Comment, and Like me.
